Funding provides resources to help early stage companies reach their full potential. Various types of funding are essential to bring companies through proof of concept to seed stage and on to mezzanine rounds of financing. Emerging companies typically use personal funds or funds derived from various federal and state grants in order to get them through the initial stages of development. Once through the proof of concept stage, companies seek seed stage funding to further develop their product and take the company to the next level, thus positioning them for larger rounds of financing.
