Michael Gyoerkoe
Michael has 11 years of experience in public accounting providing audit and advisory services. Michael has served a variety of public and private clients, including clients out of Deloitte’s Charlotte and Raleigh offices. Michael also spent 2 years in Accounting & Reporting Services in Deloitte’s National Office in Stamford, CT. While in Deloitte’s National Office, Michael assisted with technical research for complex transactions, participated in formal consultations on technical accounting matters including convertible debt, distinguishing liabilities from equity, derivative accounting, hedge accounting and tax equity structures. He provided feedback to the FASB in their development of accounting standards and has assisted with various Deloitte publications. Michael frequently presents on technical accounting matters and often presents on FASB standard setting activity. Michael has assisted clients with adoption of new accounting standards, including ASC 842, by assisting with the accounting literature as well as by providing transformation services for implementing systems. His background includes industry experience in power and utilities and renewable energy on topics such as fair value measurement, commodity derivatives, consolidation, equity method accounting, rate regulation, purchase accounting and goodwill measurement. Michael also has extensive experience working with clients in the life sciences and technology industries.
