First Flight Venture Center is delighted to host lunchtime programs, "Itineraries" that offer a chance for members of the First Flight community and broader innovation ecosystem to learn about the work of early-stage science-focused companies, network and have some fun at the same time! An Itinerary is ‘a planned route or journey’ and this program gives companies often who are in residence at First Flight a forum in which to share where they are and where they plan to go.
This month we are excited to host Mark Patrick has a Ph.D.
Mark has a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from UNC-Chapel Hill. He served as team leader, consultant and mentor primarily focused on analytical assays and physical properties for new chemical entity (NCE) developability for nearly 30yrs with 24yrs at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK).
While consulting at Stiefel, a GSK dermatology subsidiary, among various roles Mark became the rheometer lead user and trainer. It became evident that there is a general lack of understanding and appreciation for the potential of rheology to provide insight to better understand, optimize and leverage physical properties for many materials and applications. When the opportunity arose in 2017, Mark founded Rheology Testing Services in Chapel Hill that supports a broad range of academic and industrial clients. Mark welcomes the opportunity to discuss and provide both technical insight and testing.
During the seminar, Mark will highlight various basic rheology principles, applications and experimental considerations for rotational, oscillatory and vertical assays to address client needs.
