Kristin Austin is a seasoned Commercial Strategy leader with 20+ years of experience spanning large pharma and biotech — from GSK and Genentech to BioMarin. She has a track record of building and operationalizing commercial and medical affairs functions from early development through launch, Her specialties are rare disease, immunology, neuroscience, and cutting-edge modalities like gene therapy, having led commercial strategy for Biomarin’s pioneering AAV gene therapy for Hemophilia A.

As an expert consultant, Kristin teams up with C‑suite leaders to shape portfolio strategy, optimize new product planning, and craft clear, compelling BD narratives. Her approach combines scientific fluency with strategic clarity — helping teams answer big questions: What makes your product stand out? What’s the true market opportunity? How do we evolve the value story as the science advances?

Kristin earned both her MBA and undergraduate degrees in Economics/ Biologic Psychology from Duke. After years in the Bay Area, she’s returned to the Triangle, where she’s passionate about mentoring the next generation of leaders — especially women in life sciences. She’s an early adopter of digital and AI tools to drive and innovate healthcare engagement.
