Tomoko Maeda-Chubachi

I am a physician drug development leader with over 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience. I motivate others with above and beyond work ethic and warm and approachable character. I continuously develop solid relationships with a broad range of stakeholders using excellent cross-cultural communication skills.

I am a founding director and the chief mentor of the Institute of Drug Development Career Promotion (DDCP), a non-profit organization whose mission is to introduce physicians' perspectives in drug development and support advancing physicians' careers in the industry.

As a board-certified dermatologist, I have led various phases of development to treat skin diseases in small biotech as well as big pharma. I am engaged in drug development of oral, biologics, and topicals, resulting in 8 regulatory submission and negotiation with regulatory authorities in the US, Europe, and Japan. Key highlights include:

- Led NDA, approval and pre-launch activities of berdazimer gel (Zelsuvmi) for molluscum indication

- Led tapinarof (VTAMA) projects for psoriasis and atopic dermatitis indication

- Championed ixekizumab (Taltz) projects for phase 3 studies and NDA for psoriasis indication

- Led tofacitinib (Xeljanz) projects for psoriasis indication

- Spearheaded latanoprost (Xalatan) pediatric sNDA and obtained EU indication and 6 months patent extension

My passion is to contribute to communities through drug development and mentoring. She mentored many professionals at work as well as through various professional organizations.
