Julie serves as Senior Special Counsel in the SEC’s Office of the Advocate for Small Business Capital Formation, where she focuses on outreach and education. The independent Office was established by Congress to advance the interests of small businesses and their investors, ranging from startups to small public companies. Prior to joining the Office in 2019 as one of its inaugural members, Julie served in a variety of roles at the SEC, including in the Division of Corporation Finance and as Deputy Director of the Office of Legislative Affairs. Prior to the SEC, Julie served as a counsel on Capitol Hill, and prior to that she worked at the law firm Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP in Boston, where she advised companies and private funds on capital-raising transactions.
